A little history about Big Brothers & Big Sisters: Big Brothers Big Sisters (BBBS) is the oldest, largest, most effective youth mentoring organization in America. BBBS came into existence in 1904 when New York City court clerk, Ernest Coulter, noticed the large amount of young boys coming into his court room. He recognized that children could benefit from having adults to spend time with and learn from. The program began with 39 volunteers. Big Brothers Big Sisters now serves more than 225,000 children nationwide.
